Sun RoomIn these challenging economic times, now more than ever our home is required to provide a feeling of serenity and comfort as a retreat from the distractions and turmoil of the outside world

The focus on interior design to bring harmony between people and their homes has always been valued. In feng shui, one of the most important cures (a correction to adjust the energy in a space) is to restore order by the removal of clutter and negative energy from the home. This allows positive energy (chi) to circulate fully throughout the room. By removing overwhelming stimuli (clutter) a more peaceful environment is created.

Beautiful Interior Design is very beneficial, but what if that’s only getting half the job done?

Is it possible that we can also remove the negative energy in our home?

nine lessonsIn my book, 9 Life Altering Lessons I explain how we can clean the “energy” in the home.

…”Humanity was created with free will to do in general whatever they please and given a gift they often overlook until it is pointed out to them, which is the power of speech, the power to communicate and to say the word. If we consider the ancient stories of how Earth was created with a Word, what power do you think exists in this form of communication? How important are your words and what do you create with them”?

“Energy does not die, it just changes form. In the same respect, words do not die. Picture your home. Once you have the image of your home in mind, think about what conversations (words) occurred in your home in the past year. The energy in words have a sticky substance to them. They attach themselves to people, places and things, especially in homes, which hold energy as we spend so much time indoors.

Take a moment and imagine that you are holding a blue light, similar to what is used in crime scenes to detect invisible stains, which cannot be viewed with the naked eye. Shine this blue light on the walls of your home and visualize every word spoken in your home during the past year. All of these words are stuck on the walls of your home, like wallpaper and each of them have energy in them reflecting off of your walls.

Ask yourself, what kind of energy has been created in my home”?

Would you like to remove the old energy from your home and restore your home with new energy? Here’s how!

Eight steps to consciously cleanse and change  the energy in your home

Meditation In TempleStep One:  Become aware of the words you speak in your home. Your home is your temple and should be treated with love and respect. The temple of your home protects your family from the elements, provides comfort and shelter and brings the family together to share in many activities.  Consciously cleansing the home will clear the air and using your words with conscious thought will have a positive impact on the entire family.

Step Two:  Speak loving words of encouragement, love, kindness and compassion. When engaged in an argument, catch yourself. Count to ten and ask, what are you about to release energetically into your home and towards the people you love?  Remain aware that what is created daily in the sacred temple of your home, nurtures you and your family day and night.

Step Three:  Create a cleansing ritual using white sage to smudge and purify each room (check with your local store for instructions on how to smudge with sage). Say a prayer of protection to begin while lighting a white candle. As you move throughout each room with the sage, speak a prayer or mantra to bless each room and open the windows in each room to send old energy outdoors to be released.

paint couple in new homeStep Four:  Paint the walls in a room where you would like to completely change the energy. Select a different color and ask for guidance to choose the color most needed in this room. Play uplifting music and as you paint, say the word aloud that you would like the room to energetically align with, such as love, peace or grace. Lightly paint the word on the wall, while saying it aloud three times. Be sure to quickly paint over the word before it dries, otherwise what you have written will bleed through when the paint dries.  If you are painting several rooms, create special words for each room.  Active words work best such as: Abundance in the dining room, Peace in a child’s room, Love in the master bedroom, and Divine Order, which sets the intention for the entire home. (If you are unable to paint your home, use a feather duster and dust the walls while focusing energy and intention on seeing the walls cleared of old energy residue.)

For Added Effect: To create a long lasting energetic boost in your room, purchase ground quartz (sold in the paint department of home renovation stores), specially ground for paint. Hold the bag of quartz in your hands and send the desired thought into the quartz. Then mix the quartz into the paint. This will reflect your thoughts and energy and create a beautiful sheen on the walls.

tibetan bellStep Five: Once the room is put back together, fresh flowers bring in positive energy.  Declare your home to be a sacred temple and keep it clutter-free, as clutter creates a detrimental effect on the energy of the room and the people who inhabit the space.

Step Six: Apply decorative lettering to the wall of any room or a piece of art or sign that states the intention of what you wish to create and manifest in the home. There are a wide variety of quotes readily available as well as the option to create a custom phrase of your own. With an uplifting phrase as a visual accent, it will be even easier to remember the new intentions that you are creating for your family and the sacred space you call home.

Step Seven: Ring a Tibetan Bell daily to cleanse and clear the energy in the home. When needed, use the dorje/striker to ring loudly and clear negative energy. The bell vibrates with a clear pure sound that radiates throughout the home. The vibration and tone clear negative energy and purify the space, so that you can add new energy, stating your clear intention of the energy now in the home, such as: This home is filled with love and light, Our home is filled with peace and joy, Divine Energy and Love courses through this home.

salt lampStep Eight: Add a Himalayan Salt Lamp to your home. The salt lamp exudes negative ions, which are similar to the ions created at the beach when the waves hit the shore, or from a waterfall or during a thunderstorm when ligthning clears the air and moves stagnant polluted energy. These ions generate positive energy and make you feel more relaxed and happy.
